GRINDER-MAN

We GRINDER-MAN are an art performance group constitutes interactions of the performers and the audiences in the backdrop of contemporary art. Our objective is to create a site-specific dance piece with a nuance of "here" and "now" as we use spontaneity, balance, and body control as tools.

Our latest performance piece. We camped in Kanazawa for two weeks to create this site-specific piece. Its theme is to "Imagine the invisible". We focused on the contrast between the spacious museum hall and the enclosed theater space. We camped in Kanazawa for two weeks to create this site-specific piece. MUSTANG Colors

"MUSTANG Colors" is our latest work of MUSTANG series since 2005. This is our second theatrical piece after "MUSTANG MONO" which was announced in 2009. Its theme is "the correlation of group and individual". Sound artist, evala, created the music appropriate for the three-dimensional acoustic space for this work.


ABOUT US

PROFILE

Topped in black cubes, we are a group of peculiar individuals who carries out equally bizarre performances in backdrops of contemporary art. We aim to constitute spontaneous interactions between the performers and the audiences as part of our plot. We humans are designed to impose rules for ourselves to live by. The cubes worn on dancers' heads create the clear boundary between the performers and the spectators. They also conceal each dancers' personal characters and facial expressions, which make it possible for the audiences to override their stereotypes and melt into the performance.
